Is There Anything I can Do?

In some kittens, the hyperactivity might continue especially when they have very active and enthusiastic parents. In some kittens, it might just be their nature. The hyperactivity might slow down but they might still be a handful to have around the house. Just like their owners, each kitten and cat has its own unique personality but, that doesn’t mean there is nothing you can’t do about it.

As the kitten grows, the hyper activity makes the cat seem unfriendly. Even though it might just be fooling around, the cat might start biting you or the guests which can be painful as she grows up. It is however important to note that the kitten can also bite when she is in pain so you need to rule that out. So what do you do other than knowing when do kittens calm down?

What Can You Do To Calm Your Kitty?

  • 1. Bring in another kitty

One of the best ways to deal with the situation is channeling that energy positively and what better way to do that than to bring in another kitten. When choosing the cat to bring in, make sure it is older and less active. The younger cat will tend to behave better as it tries to mimic the behavior of the older cat.

  • 2. Invest in some fun playing equipment

This might sound a little pricey but it is nothing compared to your leather couch or expensive drapes. Providing your kitten with enough toys that she can use to tire herself out is the best way of making sure she stays away from your valuables as she outgrows this stage. You could also get creative by tying a toy at the end of the fishing rod (without the hook) and amp it up to the little guy and watch him go. It is great fun for you and plenty of work out for him as she continues to develop muscle and coordination.

  • 3. Make feeding time play time

Not all cats will appreciate this but with so much energy to spend, you have to find new ways for the cat to spend it. Even though it looks a little harsh having to make your cat work for its food, it does have plenty of benefits. The first of them will be to teach the cat to wait for their food as opposed to always walking up to a bowl full of treats.

For dry foods, you can have the meals trapped inside treat balls. It is a great way of draining energy while helping the kitten work out.
